The project intends to raise and harmonise quality of care and enable equity (environmental, social, gender and geographical) of care of rheumatic diseases and other musculoskeletal conditions across the Member States by further developing a relevant health surveillance and information system.
The project will deliver a sustainable network, integrated with the professional and user network across and beyond the member states that will provide continually updatable and comparable data, knowledge, evidence and expertise to meet the EU strategic goals
The project will identify the burden on individuals and society of musculoskeletal conditions across EU Member States; set standards of care for individuals and healthcare providers for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis; assess whether these are being achieved; and help overcome the barriers to achieving these standards to enable the effective and equitable prevention and management of these conditions in the Member States. A sustainable health surveillance and information system and network will be created developed by the partners and embedded within the European rheumatology professional, scientific and patient organisation.
A sustainable European Musculoskeletal Conditions Surveillance and Information Network and website will help harmonise information on the health, social, employment and economic impact of musculoskeletal conditions across all Member States, providing an assessment tool to that it can be easily updated. It will improve standards of care, and provide recommendations to achieve a better implementation of Standards of Care and Health Care Quality Indicators through an understanding of barriers and facilitators, with examples of good practice.
