EUREGIO III (EIII) supports the innovative approach of using Structural Funds for health. The general objective of the project is to extend the results of EUREGIO to identify & share best actions for the effective use of structural funds for health & help reduce health inequalities among EU regions. It is a key resource to help Member States, regional & local authorities and actors to develop, apply & implement Structural Funds (SF) projects for health gain.

General objective:

This Joint Action will support the national activities needed to build the capacity for organizing Health Examination Surveys (HES) in 14 countries. The Partners will work in collaboration with the European Health Examination Survey Reference Centre (EHES RC) funded by a separate Tender. The aim is to plan and prepare for a full-scale HES in the 14 countries, and to pilot the fieldwork, data collection, assessment and reporting. The full-size HESs will provide comparable information on major chronic disease risk factors and disease prevalence.

Specific objectives:

1. To prepare national HES plans for the Partners of the Joint Action.
2. To prepare detailed sampling description for the piloting countries.
3. To complete the national HES pilot field work.
4. To transfer pilot survey data from Partner countries to the EHES RC and assessment of the data.
5. To share the national experience among the Partners.
6. To plan the reporting of the national results of the full-size HES, and report the results of the national pilot HES.

The TobTaxy capacity building project will train the public health/tobacco control (TC) community on tax and illicit trade issues so that they can effectively support on-going European and international policy initiatives which are in line with the overall EU approach on tobacco control and Articles 6 and 15 (taxation and smuggling respectively) of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC).

The overall objective of the project is the reduction of alcohol consumption and related harms of adolescents and young adults in Europe. It is mainly focusing on youths between 12 and 21 years noted with risky alcohol consumption. TAKE CARE aims at keeping adolescents to the legal provisions as set in the respective national laws and at hindering alcohol consumption before the set minimum age. Furthermore the project aims at enforcing responsible alcohol use by younger generations and thus minimizing the risk of alcohol dependency and related health impacts as well as deviant behaviour.

1-To improve field work interventions: improving and standardizing existing interventions reducing synthetic drugs related harm, facilitating their transferability and implementation.
2- To adapt responses to partygoers mobility: increasing harm reduction behaviors among tourist partygoers and reducing crisis situations in recreational settings.
3-To develop innovative responses adapted to youth cultures: developing individual harm reduction strategies through the use of interactive technology tools and emerging media.
4-To develop community empowerment: improving health settings and reducing harm related through community empowerment among European night clubs and events, implementing "Party+" labels within EU cities or regions and involving big summer festivals organizers in harm reduction responses.
5-To implement new projects and to enlarge the network: initiating and supporting emerging projects reducing synthetic drugs related harm in nightlife settings.
6-To improve the rapidity and quality of field responses in relation with new trends, new substances and adulterants.
