EPHA Operating Grant Proposal 2016 SGA [EPHA SGA 2016]

The Annual Work Programme for 2016 of EPHA is drawn from the multiannual work programme 2015-2017 and builds on successes to date. EPHA’s activities in 2016 will continue to contribute to all four objectives of the Third Health Programme. EPHA has formally reviewed our Strategic Plan 2011-2015. We undertook a thorough consultation process involving Board members, Staff and the EPHA membership, and an analysis of EPHA’s operating environment, strengths and weaknesses. The EPHA membership formally approved the new Strategic Plan 2016-2020 at the Annual General Assembly on 4th September 2015. The Work Programme for 2016 reflects the revised strategy to define a clearer selection of priorities. This approach will enable EPHA to manage activities more effectively, encourage closer cooperation between members and across themes, and better monitor and evaluate our impact.EPHA’s overarching strategic objective remains: “To promote good health and wellbeing, to reduce disease and health inequalities in European policies and programmes”. Priorities selected are as follows:Under Aims 1 and 2 of the 3rdHP and EPHA Strategic Objective “Securing a Governance for Health Approach in Key EU Policies” (HiAP):- Agriculture and Food Policy including Alcohol, Tobacco and NCDs- EU Semester for Health- Healthy Trade Policy- Public Health and Research in the EU BudgetUnder Aims 3 and 4 of the 3rdHP and EPHA Strategic Objective “Strengthen EU Policies to Reduce Health Inequalities and Ensure Universal Access to Sustainable, Inclusive Health Systems”:- Universal and Fair Access to Medicines- Action on Antimicrobial Resistance- Inclusive E- and M-Health- HSPAEach of these areas has operational objectives, milestones, deliverables and impact indicators. The Work Programme 2016 also highlights organisational development objectives, particularly on cooperation with academia, communications and financial sustainability, which are priorities for 2016.

Promote Vaccinations among Migrant Populations in Europe [PROMOVAX]

Promovax’s general objective is to promote immunizations among migrant populations in Europe, thus contributing to the elimination of vaccine preventable diseases in the region & reducing social inequalities in health. It aims to complement EU policies on reaching hard-to-reach populations by adding to the knowledge of migrants` immunization barriers, developing educational material for both health professionals & migrants and by developing recommendations for policy-makers.
It aims to:
Identify & record the immunization needs of migrants
Evaluate migrants’ access to immunization in the EU countries
Analyze the legislative context regarding migrant immunizations in the partner countries
Identify & exchange best practices on migrants` immunization health promotion
Enhance health care professionals’ knowledge on immunization needs of migrants and raise cultural sensitivity among health care professionals providing for migrants
Improve migrants’ understanding & acceptance of immunizations and facilitate their access to immunizations by identifying a network of relevant sites.

Promotion of Immunization for Health Professionals in Europe [HProImmune]

FASTVAC: A generic framework for FAST production and evaluation of emergency VACcines [FASTVAC]

The general objective of FastVac is to produce a comprehensive set of predictive rules that will enable accelerated development, evaluation, production & release of emergency vaccines. The "blueprints" produced will inform the parallel processes of vaccine development & process design, through to phase 1 clinical testing & support for GMP production. By providing evidence-based rules to aid the production of contingency emergency vaccines, FastVac ultimately aims to have a significant effect on the long term health of the human population, both in the EU & internationally. Specific objectives are to develop: evidence-based rules for rapid vaccine design, production & release; & apply principles for vaccine candidate design based on COPs; & apply principles for the use of COPs in vaccine pre-clinical testing & licensure; production principles that will accelerate vaccine production & release; to consolidate a strategic alliance to respond collectively to vaccine-preventable public health emergencies & to build a strategic framework for uptake of novel concepts for vaccine licensure.
