FACT aims at ensuring that the best practice is shared across the EU and at closing the gap that exists in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care, and research between and within Member State. Its primary aim is to send a strong signal that immediate concerted action is needed to reduce cancer rates and improve cancer
outcomes. In addition, it will include and embrace extensive and existing knowledge, projects and initiatives on cancer. Numerous institutions, organisations and individuals will be given an opportunity to contribute to the project.

The main goal of the project is to improve the quality of life of people with double/triple diagnosis (HIV/addiction/mental illness) in new EU member countries (Poland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia) by increasing awareness of the relation between HIV/AIDS and mental health problems among professionals in relevant sectors and disseminating best practices existing in old EU member countries in the area of integrated approach towards mental health and HIV/AIDS (e.g. Dutch multidisciplinary treatment team model).

The general objective of this project is to identify socioeconomic inequalities in mortality in census tracts of 14 European cities at the beginning of the XXI century (over a span of 5-10 years centred around 2005) and also to compare the social and health policies undertaken in these cities (including policies using EU structural funds) to address inequalities, in order to contribute to the improvement of methods to tackle health inequalities in cities.

Chronic viral hepatitis B and C is a major health problem in many European countries. Migrants from endemic areas in particular, are the most affected and underserved population groups. The general objective of this project is to assess, describe and communicate to public health professionals the tools and conditions necessary for implementing successful screening programmes for hepatitis B and C among migrants in the European Union.
